PRA Overview
Pre-Receival Advice (PRA)
The PRA is the electronic replacement for the current paper document known as an Export Receival Advice (ERA). Mandatory from the 1st of August, exporters will be required to pre-advice export containerised cargo details to both Patrick and DP World operated terminals Australia wide, before the container arrives at the terminal.
Benefits of the Process
There are clear benefits for all parties involved in this process, including:
Eliminating poor ERA legibility problems;
Standardised process for both Road and Rail;
Increased security at the terminal;
Crosschecks the pre-advice against the Shipping Line bookings to ensure correct cargo is received for the correct destination and the correct Line operator;
Reduced truck-processing time at the wharf gate;
Ensures acceptance through the gate at the wharf prior to arrival; and
Eliminates the cost associated with double handling cargo received or rejected with incorrect information.
Estimates show that the PRA will save up to 10 minutes of processing time at the terminal gate every time an export container is delivered, equating to better truck utilization and increased efficiencies for all parties at the terminal.
How to Submit a PRA
1-Stop Connections Pty Ltd as the messaging hub for both Patrick and DP World, provides two methods for completing a PRA.
1. Online via www.1-stop.biz
2. System to system, via EDI or CSV.
On-Line Submission of a PRA.
The 1- Stop Connections website provides a simple, easy to use and cost effective method of submitting PRA?s. For a small yearly subscription fee, access is provided to an interactive web screen where PRA information can be entered, saved as a draft or sent directly to the terminal. A copy function is also provided for shipments with multiple containers, requiring only for the entry of container specific information.
Linked to the up to date vessel schedule, there is a reduced risk of the incorrect reporting of vessel information, including discharge ports and line operators. And once the PRA is submitted, information will be verified and if all is reported correct, the container will receive an accepted status, either via email or via the webpage, and will be guaranteed entry into the terminal.
System to System reporting of a PRA.
The system to system reporting of PRAs takes the electronic process one step further, completing the transaction without the need for further data entry. This is an ideal solution for companies aiming to better utilise staff resources whilst producing cost savings.
An electronic message is built from the information contained in an existing software application and automatically emailed to the 1-Stop Connections messaging hub for translation and processing. Many of the logistics specific industry software providers are already providing this facility however, if required file specifications for both CSV and EDIFACT messages are available from 1-Stop Connections.
1-Stop Connections can also supply companies with an electronic format of the vessel schedule and an automated process for container movements, providing a fully integrated and automated solution, which offers increased efficiencies and improved work flow processes.
